How do I modify my MX record?
In order to modify any DNS record, please make sure you have our 'DNS Record' feature installed in the 'Advanced Section' of your MyPANEL. If you do not see this feature, please purchase from your MyPANELS' 'Upgrade Shop'.

How do I modify my MX record?

'MX Records' are an entry in DNS that identifies your mailserver that is responsible for handling email for your domain. By default this is set to our servers as below:

(In this example the customer is on a Mid Hosted account)

and you will see something very similar to the above in your DNS record section in MyPanel.

If you would like your own mailserver to deal with email then you would need to amend the DNS in MyPanel as below:-

Firstly, delete the existing MX record , which is  in the example above.

Then, create a new MX record in the 'Add a new DNS record' section.

In the  field enter the @ symbol

In the enter:  mail.your domain name here obviously replacing 'your domain name here' with your domain name..i.e. 'mail.supanames.co.uk'

In the field, use the drop down to choose MX record:

so you now have:

(you can choose also the priority of the servers you wish your mail to be delivered to, should you wish to create more than one MX record, but if you need just one, the default priority is '10')

Next, we will create an A record to point to your new MX record.

In the   field you should enter 'mail' :

In the field enter the I.P. address of you external mail server...i.e. 194.154.162.100 as an example:

In the set as an A Record.

Then, log out of the DNS modification section, and your MX record change will resolve in the next few hours for you.
