How do I set up authenticated SMTP in my Email Client program?

Please follow the instructions below for enabling authenticated SMTP in Outlook Express/Windows Mail

1. From the Tools menu, select Accounts, that brings up the Accounts window.

2. From the Accounts window, click on the Properties button.

3. You don't need to change anything in the General tab, click on the servers tab

4. Use Put a checkmark in the My server requires authentication. checkbox and then click on settings



5. Ensure that the 'Use same settings as my incoming mail server' radio button is clicked then click ok



Part 6 and 7 are optinal if your ISP blocks port 25

6. Click the Advanced Tab

7. In the field labeled "Outgoing Mail(SMTP)" under the Server Port Numbers, enter 980



8. Click Ok

9. Done! 

Please follow the instructions below for enabling authenticated SMTP in Outlook

1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings, this will bring up the Accounts window.

2. From the Accounts window, select the account and click on the Change button.

3. Enter relay.your_domain_name in the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box

4. Click on more settings 

5. Click the outgoing server tab and tick "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication) , ensure "use the same settings as my incoming mail server" is selected

Part 6 and 7 are optinal if your ISP blocks port 25


6. Click the Advanced Tab

7. In the field labeled "Outgoing Mail(SMTP)" under the Server Port Numbers, enter 980

8. Click Ok, then Next

9. Done!
